Voices of the West End explores the history and cultural life of Fremantle and enables you to contribute your own stories about the place. Do you remember something that happened outside the Woolstores, or at the E-Shed wharf, or in Gino’s cafe? No need for it to be a large, newsworthy, public event - it may just be some small, personal recollection. If you have memories of Fremantle life that you’d like to share then navigate to the place (via the map in the ‘places/stories’ section) and add your story.

The site also includes photographic and multimedia perspectives on aspects of Fremantle by a number of WA artists (the ‘works’ section). Derek Kreckler renders the decrepit interior of the South Fremantle Power Station as a precise study in form and colour. Sam Landels captures poetically charged textures and details of Freo space. Jo Law and Redmond Bridgeman provide a counter-touristic view of the iconic Fremantle (via the recollections of Michael Mcghie). And Vikki Wilson and Rick Mason pass the Freo visual landscape through a corrupting (and beautiful) chemical bath.

We look forward to your contributions.
