during a three week residency in the artsource Henderson St cottage we were (unsuspectingly) privvy to any number of conversations from any room in our house. particularly on a market saturday and sunday, we would hear conversation after conversation, gossip after gossip, catch-up after catch-up outside the market. most nights we would hear drunken conversations, arguments, lover’s tiffs. most early mornings, the rubbish truck. most evenings, a phone conversation from a tennant of a neighbouring house. we learnt a lot about the underlying social fabric of fremantle just from what we heard.
